Commissioned by Sophia Tegart and Chris Wilson and members from the consortium, Dream of a Falling Star<\/em> is inspired by a dream I once had of being up in space witnessing the journey of a shooting star. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The piece is separated into mini movements performed continuously without pause:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A duet between a star and its sky<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interlude: Floating above the stillness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lament of a falling star<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interlude: Reflecting on its fate<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Embracing its destiny<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coda: Return to dust<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

It was premiered October 17, 2024 at Washington State University featuring Sophia Tegart (flute) , Chris Wilson (vibraphone\/crotales), and Jennifer Bellor (piano). They performed it at the 2026 National Flute Convention Opening Gala Concert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
