Went on a little trip to Mars today! 🚀🪐🎶 One of my composition students, Liam Kornoely, worked with the Dreamscape VR development team at Lied Library to write a soundtrack for their latest virtuality reality experience: space exploration. Using a virtual reality helmet, tracking nodes, and haptic feedback, we were transported into a futuristic world to learn about different planets in our solar system . We even walked on the surface of Mars (so awesome). This was such a fun experience and I love how our composition students here at UNLV are taking part in these interdisciplinary collaborations!

Celebrating the first week back after a great four

Celebrating the first week back after a great four days of teaching, working on projects and meeting deadlines 🎶🎉

And so happy to finally check out this new bar one of my bartender friends opened. The bar is called “Class” and has speakeasy vibes. You walk in and are greeted by the hostess with a mini cocktail and then get to choose from a wide variety of craft cockatiels of of the newspaper menu. And it opens at 4:44pm ✨

Had a blast at the National Flute Association Convention! So happy with our performance last night of DREAM OF A FALLING STAR at the Opening Gala Concert, and had a wonderful time reconnecting with friends and colleagues! I’m also excited to share that our studio recording of the piece was released today on all streaming platforms.

I’m really excited to be there on Thursday to perform with Sophia Tegart and Christopher Wilson. Premiered GLEAM IRIDESCENCE at the International Trumpet Guild Conference New Works Recital today with David Puchkoff (🎺) and Ian Sullivan (vibraphone).

This was such a wonderful collaboration working with David and Ian, and it was an honor to be on the Hatch Hall stage to perform with them. 🎶

Commissioned by David, this was one of my projects since last August, which culminated in the premiere today and a studio recording (we will release the new track sometime over the summer) ☀️

Nine tracks of original music for a combination of clarinet, alto sax 🎷 , vibraphone, and piano 🎹

I’m incredibly grateful to Bryan Conger, Shawna Pennock and James W Doyle for this wonderful collaboration. This is been a really special project for me and loved writing all of this music for us to bring to life together for this album and for the upcoming concert.

My album release concert is on Sunday, April 26th at 7PM at Southern Nevada Music! 🎶 Bryan Conger, Shawna Pennock, James Doyle, and I will perform the music from my new album, CATCHING CLOUDS. The pieces are for a combination of clarinet, alto sax, vibraphone, and piano:

Fantastic Nextet concert on Monday! 🎶🎉🤩 I

Fantastic Nextet concert on Monday! 🎶🎉🤩 It was such an epic event that featured several premieres and performances featuring students, faculty, alumni and guest artists. Guest composer Robert Paterson gave a presentation to the composers, taught private lessons and even conducted one of his pieces, and guest artist James Doyle met with five of the composers on their new vibraphone interludes in a workshop before premiering them.

It was a wonderful experience organizing and programming everything for the residencies and concert, and I am extremely grateful to the performers involved for making this a truly memorable and special final concert to close the season.

I also loved being on stage to perform alongside Bryan Conger, Shawna Pennock, and James Doyle for the premiere of my piece, Catching Clouds. It was such a fun and thrilling experience for me, and can’t wait to perform with all of them again at our album release concert on April 26th (7pm at Southern Nevada Music).

Looking forward to planning out the next Nextet season!
